AP English

Course Choices for English:

  • Nearly all medical schools require 2 semesters of “English.” All have been willing to take WRITING 20 as one of those semesters.
  • We have found that most medical schools will accept an AP/IPC credit in English for the second semester of English that is required. However, we cannot promise that all will.
  • Some applicants put off the second English until their senior year and then plan to take an ENGLISH or LIT course if necessary. Others go ahead and take advantage of the wealth of courses available in those two areas and take another course early on.
  • Some medical schools may be willing to accept a writing intensive course in another department, but that would be school specific and thus we cannot promise you that such a course would accepted in lieu of a second English or Literature course.
  • All Trinity students will have 3 writing intensive courses before they graduate. We are working to see that medical schools recognize that fact. However, some still would like to see ENG or LIT on the transcript.
