myHPA
Productivity is essential for busy students with lots of demands. That’s why we are innovating in ways that enhance your success, like providing myHPA. This personalized online planning, reporting and tracking tool supports the various aspects of the health professions advising program at Duke.
PREPARING
Any student considering a health professions career can use myHPA to set up a profile, create an account with the Office of Health Professions Advising, as well as plan and track your own progress year-by-year towards your application to a health professions school.
APPLYING
If you are a junior, senior, or an alumnus(a) who intends to matriculate in a health professionals school in the year 2010, myHPA will guide you through your application process. Use myHPA to complete all your activities, list who you have asked to write a letter of recommendation, and upload a copy of your medical school personal essay. The Office of Health Professions Advising works with you during this process. We will write a Committee Letter of Evaluation on your behalf to the Admissions Committees of the medical schools to which you apply. We use the information submitted in myHPA and a personal interview (to be scheduled online following the submission of this information), plus your faculty letters of recommendation, to profile you in the Committee Letter of Evaluation. We package the Committee Letter with your individual letters of recommendation.
HPA provides workshops on the entire process as well as individual advising.
Kickoff for the 2010 application cycle starts in November 2009. Watch the calendar for events.
