2009 Fall Student National Dental Association (SNDA) IMPRESSIONS Program
UNC School of Dentistry
November 14, 2009, 7:30am – 4:00pm

The IMPRESSIONS program is an innovative recruitment program that focuses primarily on increasing the number of applications and acceptances of minority/underserved students into dental school. It is designed to give potential applicants the chance to visit the dental school and interact with students, administrators, and professors. In the past, we have introduced students to the admissions process, financial aid issues, and an overview of the curriculum. In addition, we will also offer Dental Admission Test (DAT) courses, mock interviews, assistance in composing a personal statement and lab exercises. To reserve your space for participation in the IMPRESSIONS program, the cost is $10 for each participant.

For directions to UNC School of Dentistry please visit www.dent.unc.edu/directions. The registration deadline is Monday, November 2nd, 2009. Any questions you may have should be directed to Heather Hendricks (319-601-9845) hhendric@dentistry.unc.edu or Lana Doan (704-502-9403) doan@dentistry.unc.edu.

Dean’s Conversations Series presents…

Carol Teener, Associate Director of Admissions
University of Michigan Medical School

Hear Director Teener talk about Michigan and their admissions practices. Bring your questions and be prepared for an informative session. Is the science GPA viewed more highly than the MCAT? What role does the personal statement essay play in admissions? Is clinical experience really necessary if I have a high MCAT score and 3.9 GPA? Is it looked down upon to take the MCAT multiple times? What is your advice about writing the activities section of AMCAS?
